Acclaimed for her “smoldering stage presence” (The New York Times) and “richly hued voice” (BBC Music Magazine), Miami-based American–Armenian–Argentinean singer Solange Merdinian has earned an international reputation for her sweeping versatility and magnetic artistry. Equally at home in baroque, contemporary, folk, tango, cabaret, and world music, she is celebrated as a recitalist, chamber musician, and opera performer whose interpretive depth transcends genre.
Solange starred in the title role of María de Buenos Aires with Florentine Opera, receiving glowing critical acclaim for her compelling, authentic portrayal. Recent highlights include performances with the Firdaus Orchestra at World Expo Dubai—headlining the first livestream concert (2022), the International Women’s Day celebration, and a holiday gala in 2023. She has appeared at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall in solo recitals (2021, 2022), is a 2019 Pro Musicis Competition winner, and is widely praised for her “tour de force” interpretation of Piazzolla’s legendary heroine.
In 2025, Solange was invited to perform the Argentine and American National Anthems at Hard Rock Stadium and Chase Stadium for major international soccer events featuring the Argentine National Team, representing Argentina before tens of thousands of fans. Additional notable performances include singing the Argentine National Anthem at Madison Square Garden; making her French pop debut in the Hollywood film The Hundred-Foot Journey with “My Mind Is a Stranger Without You”; and appearing as a special guest at the United Nations General Assembly for India’s 70th Independence Day alongside multi-award-winning composer A.R. Rahman.
Since relocating to Miami, Solange has become an active presence in the city’s cultural landscape, performing throughout Coral Gables and Miami Beach—including the inaugural recital at the new Sanctuary of the Arts and a special performance for the Centennial Opening Exhibition of the Coral Gables Museum. She curated and performed a special program with artist Kevork Mourad, honoring the 125th Anniversary of the Armenian Diocese of America.
From 2012 to 2015, she toured the world with the Philip Glass Ensemble in the landmark, award-winning production of Einstein on the Beach, directed by Robert Wilson with choreography by Lucinda Childs. She has also been featured in Dawn Upshaw and Friends at the Classical Singer Convention and in Composing Song at Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall with Dawn Upshaw and Osvaldo Golijov.
Solange holds a Master’s degree in Voice and Vocal Performance from the Bard College Conservatory and a Bachelor of Music from The Juilliard School. A dedicated advocate for cultural and educational impact, she is the co-founder and co-director of New Docta and the New Docta Festival.
